School groups are welcome at this dynamic cultural centre in Port Adelaide
Take your students on a tour of Yitpi Yartapuultiku and bring First Nations culture to life. Primary and secondary students can learn about Kaurna history, and the thriving living environment around the Port River, covering a range of curriculum outcomes.
Real experiences for students and teachers
Yitpi Yartapuultiku invites teachers to bring learning to life on Kaurna Country. All school visits – whether a short trail walk or an extended inquiry project – must be pre-booked to ensure a safe, high quality experience for every class.
Yitpi Yartapuultiku supports educators with curriculum aligned tools that place Kaurna perspectives at the centre of inquiry. All resources are free to download once your excursion is confirmed. Many can also be adapted for classroom use before or after a visit.
Together we can foster respectful, place based learning that resonates far beyond the excursion day. Please get in touch so we can plan your visit with you.

Planning a school visit – how it works
Yitpi Yartapuultiku invites teachers to bring learning to life on Kaurna Country. All school visits—whether a short trail walk or an extended inquiry project—must be pre booked to ensure a safe, high quality experience for every class.
- Allocated time slots: weekday sessions at 9.30 am, 11: 30 am and 1.30 pm. Each slot accommodates one large cohort (max 100 students) or two smaller groups simultaneously.
- Self guided focus: students explore at their own pace using our age specific trail maps and activity prompts (download links appear in your confirmation email).
- Elder Talk option: a 20 minute yarning circle with a Kaurna Elder can be added subject to availability. The experience deepens cultural understanding but is not essential to enjoying the site.
